Venue
Completely surrounded by mountains, Bandung is blessed with a cool and pleasant climate as well as picturesque open vistas. During the old colonial days, it attracted rich Dutch colonial planters to make the city their retreat away from the hot tropical climate along the coast. The reputation still holds to this day, where Bandung remains a favorite retreat from the hustle bustle of daily life. By toll road, Bandung is only a couple of hours’ ride from Jakarta. In 1955, the first Asian-African Conference, also known as the Bandung Conference, was hosted in Bandung by President Sukarno and attended by the heads of states representing twenty-nine independent countries from Asia and Africa. The conference venue was at the Gedung Merdeka, the former Concordia Society building. The conference announced ten points of declaration for the promotion of world peace and opposition against colonialism and is known as the Declaration of Bandung. This was followed by a wave of nationalism and decolonisation movements around the globe which remapped world politics. The conference was also the first international conference of people of colour in history. In his book The Color Curtain, Richard Wright claims that there was an epic meaning to the conference for people of colour around the world.
Aryaduta Hotel Bandung
Located in the lively heart of the West Java capital, Aryaduta Bandung is recognized for its Dutch art deco features and 254 well-appointed rooms and suites, considered amongst the city’s preferred accommodation. Equipped with complementing event and culinary venues and facilities, the hotel welcomes a variety of travelers year round, some for its thriving and shopping or as a starting point for day trips to tea plantations, volcanic peaks or hot springs.
The conference will be held on August 04, 2026 - August 05, 2026.
